Growing Up

One day you bring your puppy home, and then you blink and the pup is all grown up.  Jaf is still a baby with lots of growing and maturing to do, but he isn't exactly the little puppy he was just 1 year ago when he came to the US.

Belle's New Home

In an earlier post, I had some information about a possible Boerboel mix that needed adopted urgently as she was nearing the end of her days at a shelter. Belle had some issues, including dominance with other dogs and dog aggression. I am happy to report that Belle is doing wonderfully in her new home, living like a Queen. I am sure she thinks she died and went to heaven. In a way, she did. Belle may be the "Devil in Disguise", but Julie of Mostly Mastiffs Menagerie is a saint!

Working Dog Seminar

I took both dogs to a Working Dog Seminar in mid-July. Here are some photos from the 3-day weekend. We had a good time, and we learned a lot. There are tons of opinions when it comes to training working dogs, so listen, learn, and form your own opinions. Dog training isn't always black and white.

Azaan, An Athletic Girl for Her Size

Before I bought my first Boerboel, I read that they were the most athletic of the mastiff breeds. I'm not convinced of that broad statement, but I do know that the two that I have are very athletic. The Cane Corso is also a very athletic mastiff breed (or should be). Here are some photos of my girl, Azaan, as she does her thing on a daily basis. She loves to run and jump, and run and jump. I have never seen a dog, of any breed, that can outduel her in the stretch.

Sit Means Sit

There is a new dog training franchise called Sit Means Sit. Do you think Azaan could get a job as a dog trainer? Here she is telling the big guy to sit.

Imitation of Linda Blair in the Exorcist

I think Jaf was trying to do his imitation of Linda Blair in the Exorcist. What do you think?

"All Warfare is Based on Deception", Sun Tzu

Jaf decided to use a few tactics that he learned from reading the book by Sun Tzu, "The Art of War". This in one smart dog! Thankfully, Azaan bounced right back up and kept going.

"Move swiftly when your enemy does not expect you."
